PHYSICIANS


Akash Ahuja, M.D. - A Chicago native received Bachelors degree from Boston University and went on to Rush University here in Chicago completing medical school, residency, and nephrology fellowship. Board certified in both Medicine and Nephrology. Dr Ahuja is fluent in Spanish. Honors have included Cum Laude graduation from Boston University and Alpha Omega Alpha membership at Rush. Special interests in Nephrology include continuous renal replacement therapies, glomerulonephritis, and interventional nephrology. Dr. Ahuja serves as the medical director of Southwest Vascular Access Center. S.C.

Abraham Thomas, M.D., MPH, FACP. - Dr. Thomas received his medical school training at the University of Kerala, India. He completed his Internal medicine residency at St Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was also the Chief Resident. He then went on to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and completed a Masters in Public Health and Nephrology Fellowship training. Dr. Thomas is board certified in Nephrology, Interventional Nephrology, and Internal Medicine. He is also a certified clinical specialist in Hypertension. His special interests include; Interventional Nephrology, Critical care Nephrology, Hypertension, Kidney transplantation and Dialysis. Dr. Thomas is the Chairman of the section of Nephrology at Advocate Christ Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at University of Illinois School of Medicine in Chicago. He also serves as the medical director of dialysis units in Mokena and Woodridge.

Chijoke Onyenwenyi, M.D. - Dr. Onyenwenyi graduated from medical school at the University of Lagos, Nigeria where he graduated with honors. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL where he served as Chief Resident. He completed his Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he also served as Chief Fellow. Dr. Onyenwenyi is the recipient of numerous teaching and scholastic awards. His areas of interest include acid base and electrolyte disorders, and Interventional Nephrology.

George Sousanieh, M.D. - Dr. Sousanieh was born and raised in Damascus, Syria. He graduated from Damascus University, Faculty of Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine degree. He moved to the United States to complete his Internal Medicine training at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science/Chicago Medical School where he served as a Chief Resident. He pursued a Fellowship in Nephrology at Rush University Medical Center where he also served as a Chief Fellow. Dr. Sousanieh is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He is fluent in Arabic and French. He is interested in acute kidney injury in the critical care setting, glomerulonephritis, and interventional nephrology.
